It is any project (no matter how small or large) either for leisure or work, that means something personal to you. It could be achieving personal life goals, getting stuff done, starting new hobbies and generally giving new things a 'whirl'. This is what Whirly Projects is all about.
What is a Whirly Badge?
Completing a Whirly Project is its own reward. I write a short piece about each project and post them on the Whirly Storiespages. Awarding yourself the Whirly badges adds a bit of fun!I display my badges on theBadge Wallspage.I also add them to my Pinterest page to share with family and friends.
Whirly Projects - Too
I also created a little brother site called 'Whirly Projects - Too' where I log the job roles I have had over the years and write a short piece about them. I guess you could call them my 'employment-based' whirly projects! As with the more leisure-based projects on this site, at work, when my positive spirit started to be impacted in some way, I would look to try a new role or try somewhere new. I would think, I could do that job, why not give it a whirl!
Completing projects and trying new things is proven to be good for your mental health and wellbeing. I like to think that no matter what stage you are at in your life, variety in your routines could be key to a happier healthier time!
"Variety is the spice of life"article
Introducing variety into your life and routines can boost your overall wellbeing and reduce the effects of mental health challenges.
How?
Monotony can lead to feelings of boredom and lethargy, which can negatively impact mental health. Introducing new activities, hobbies, and social interactions can combat these feelings and increase engagement in life.
Trying new things and experiencing novel situations can trigger the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with happiness and well-being.
Variety can act as a mental exercise, stimulating different areas of the brain and keeping it active.
Experiencing a wider range of emotions, both positive and negative, is linked to improved mental and physical health.
Trying new things can encourage creative thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for mental agility.
Variety can provide a welcome change from stressful routine, allowing for relaxation and a fresh perspective.
